YALIKAVAK BAY
Yalikavak is 18 kilometres from central Bodrum and is the area where windmills, the symbol of Bodrum, are most frequently seen, as it receives a lot of wind.
One of the windmills is on the shore and you may see it working. The coves of Tilkicik, Paşa and Ağaçbaşi in this region are beautiful and have large beaches.
To go walking and swimming early in the morning the Cove of Arka Küdür can be a very pleasant alternative. The cove can be reached by turning to the left from the Küdür Mosque and the Fok road.
For morning walks you can also go to the village of Sandima, some two kilometres from Yalikavak.
The village gives the impression of being abandoned with its old stone houses but has very panoramic views.
If you are staying in a hotel you can have breakfast in the covered restaurants by the quay.
In the cool of the morning you can have an elaborate breakfast including village made jams. While in Yalikavak you should go up to the village of Geris, known as the Tibet of Bodrum.
Sit down at Ali’s coffee-house and watch the sunset once from here too. Later go to Hasan’in Yeri on the quay to get wonderful starters.
In Yalikavak there are many drinking water sources, However, though looking at its name (kavak meaning poplar) do not think that you would see poplar trees around, oaks being more prevalent.
The Yalikavak market on Thursday is open until the afternoon and is popular for its Denzili produced cloths.
